A small, interactive Literacy Focus this week.  A lot is two words not one.  Students will often write a lot as ‘alot’ or ‘allot’.

Language changes over time so, it might be, that one day ‘a lot’ will be one word.  Right now however, it is two.  Please make sure this is known widely across Thomas Hardye School.

The only exception to this rule is an internet joke where Alot is an animal (thanks to Mr Baynes-McMahon). Even this is different because it’s a name meaning it requires a capital letter.

So, save Ms Daulby from her angry face and remember ‘a lot’ is TWO words.

Thank you.
